1. What BeatsOnDeck is
BeatsOnDeck is a marketplace where producers sell instrumental tracks and artists buy them. BeatsOnDeck hosts the files, handles payment, and is not a party to the creative agreement between the two.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure. An account is registered as either an artist or a producer, and the type cannot be changed afterwards. One person may hold at most one artist account and one producer account. Registering additional accounts of either type, whether to evade a suspension, to inflate figures, or to transact with yourself, is grounds for closing all of them. You are responsible for everything done through your account.
3. Sales and payment
Artists pay the listed price per beat by card at the point of sale. BeatsOnDeck retains 12% + $0.50 per transaction as a platform fee, deducted from the producer's payout, which is credited immediately on sale.
Payouts are sent to the email address the receiving account is registered with, or to another address recorded by BeatsOnDeck at the account holder's request after verification. Withdrawals are limited to $500.00 per account per day, and identity verification is required before any further payout once an account has earned more than $200.00 in total. BeatsOnDeck may pause payouts on an account whose sales are being reversed.
Credited is not the same as available. A producer's earnings are held for a period after the sale before they can be withdrawn, so that a reversed payment or a rights claim can be settled against money still on the platform. BeatsOnDeck may hold, delay or cancel any withdrawal where it has reason to, and will say why. A cancelled withdrawal is returned to the producer's balance in full.
4. Producer Pro
Producer Pro is an optional paid tier for producer accounts, bought as a fixed term rather than a recurring subscription. A term does not renew automatically and no payment is taken after the one that buys it. Buying a further term while one is running extends it. It changes storage limits, profile options and the price of promotional placement only; the platform fee, payout reserve and verification requirements are the same on both plans.
When a term ends, listings already published remain available for sale and buyers keep every download they hold. New uploads are refused while stored content exceeds the free allowance, and a profile background image ceases to be displayed but is retained. BeatsOnDeck may refund a term and end it immediately. Where an account is suspended, remaining term time is forfeited, and is restored if the suspension is lifted.
5. What a purchase gives you
A purchase gives the buyer a permanent right to download the file from their library, including after the producer delists the beat, plus a licence to use it. Every beat is sold under one of two licences, shown on the listing before purchase and recorded against the purchase itself:
- Royalty-free - a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive right to record, release and monetise a song built on the beat, with no royalties owed to the producer. The producer may keep selling the same beat to other artists.
- Exclusive - the same rights, and the beat is withdrawn from the marketplace at the point of sale and not sold again. The producer undertakes not to license it to anyone else.
Under both, the producer retains ownership of the underlying instrumental and the buyer may not resell or re-license the beat as a beat. A beat's licence type is fixed once it has sold, and an exclusive sale cannot be reversed or relisted by a producer or by staff.
6. Producer warranties
By uploading, a producer confirms they own or control the rights to the recording and everything in it, including any samples. Uploading material you do not have the right to sell is grounds for takedown and account closure.
7. Review of new listings
Listings uploaded from an account that has not yet had a listing approved are withheld from the marketplace pending review. Withheld listings are not publicly visible and cannot be purchased. BeatsOnDeck may decline a withheld listing without stating a reason, in which case the submitted files are deleted and the account holder is notified that a submission was declined. Once one listing from an account has been approved, subsequent listings from that account are published without review.
8. Moderation and takedowns
BeatsOnDeck may remove any listing, with or without notice, in response to a rights complaint or a breach of these terms. A takedown stops new sales; buyers who already purchased keep their download.
9. Featured placement
Producers may pay to feature a beat at the top of Browse for a fixed period. Featured placement is advertising, is labelled as such, and implies no endorsement or quality assessment by BeatsOnDeck. Fees for featuring are not refundable once the placement starts.
10. Refunds
Because a beat is delivered in full the moment it is bought, sales are final except where a listing is found to infringe or misrepresent what was sold. Contact support in that case.
11. Termination
Either party may close an account at any time. BeatsOnDeck may suspend accounts that breach these terms. Balances owed at closure are paid out once any open matters are resolved.
